Education

Plastic Oceans realise that the problem cannot simply be resolved through applying pressure on manufacturers or campaigning to governments.

A key element in a joined up approach to reducing and managing plastic waste in a more environmentally friendly way, is through education.  We need to ensure that our children understand the importance of this issue and the role they play in safeguarding our planet.  In some cases, education will not be enough and fundamental changes in culture will be required; in these situations we will work together with different groups to bring about a lasting change in attitudes and behaviour.

The issue of plastic waste is embedded within the national curriculum for a range of subjects and through education we can bring these problems and the possible solutions, to life.

As well as developing our own educational materials to support the UK National Curriculum we want to publicise other work being undertaken within the education system.  Find out more about educational initiatives
